Cookie Tour Q & A

Here in Ohio's Amish Country the Christmas Cookie Tour of Inns is right around the corner and we could not be more excited about it! We know that many, many of you have joined us on on the tour in year's past but for those of you who ate NEW to the tour we will try to answer some of your most most common questions here!

So, what exactly is a "progressive, self-guided tour"?
On Sunday, December 2nd and Monday, December 3rd twelve of the most delightful and decadent Inns and B & B's across Ohio's Amish Country will open their doors for a fun and festive Holiday afternoon. Tour goers are invited to visit the featured properties from 1pm to 6pm. Guests are welcome to visit the properties in the order of your own choosing and are encouraged to plan a route before the day of the tour.

We've never been to Ohio's Amish Country.
How will we find the properties on the tour?
After you purchase your Christmas Cookie Tour of Inns tickets you will be mailed a packet that includes the event tickets that you will need in order to gain entrance to the feature properties as well as the 2012 Souvenir Guide. Within the first few pages of the provided guide there will be a map hi-lighting all of the 2012 Inns and B & B's on the tour. Additionally, each featured property will have a bio page where you will also find the recipe of the Signature Cookie that they will be serving on the tour and the GPS coordinates to help you navigate to the exact location.

So, we get some cookies...is that all the tour is about?
Cookies are only the half of it when it comes to this festive Holiday tour. You will be able to tour all of the feature properties, including their beautifully appointed guest rooms. Be inspired by the exquisite Christmas decor and pick up Holiday tips and tricks that you can use at home to make your Christmas Season even more merry! Some of your favorite, local Amish Country business will also be featured at select locations along the tour with demonstrations, free samples and holiday shopping opportunities.  You can also enter to win a $150.00 gift certificate redeemable for a future night stay at any of the 2012 Feature properties!

Can we do the tour on both days?
Tour tickets are available for purchase for either Sunday or Monday. Multi-day tickets will not be sold however guests are more then welcome to buy individual tickets for BOTH Sunday and Monday if they wish to be able to tour properties on both days.

Are children welcome on the tour?
Yes, children are welcome. Anyone over the age of 3 will require a ticket to participate on the tour. There are no discounted rates for children's tickets. Please know that many of the properties that you will be touring are older or historic properties decorated with valuable and unique art and antiquities. The Innkeepers are excited to welcome you and your children but for the enjoyment of all tour guests parents are asked to chaperone their kids at all times throughout the afternoon.

Can we stay overnight?
Absolutely! The Innkeepers of all of our featured properties would love to have you stay with them. In fact, many of the Inns and B & B's on the tour are offering great specials and packages. All of the contact information for our feature properties can be found by clicking their pictures down the right hand side column of the home page of this website.

How many years has this tour been running?
2012 is an exciting year for us because it is the 5th Annual Christmas Cookie Tour of Inns. Over the last four years we have been able to raise over $30,000 to donate to local charities!

What about ADA and wheelchair access?
The Christmas Cookie Tour of Inns has a variety of properties featured this year. Many of the larger Inns are completely handicap accessible. There are, however, some smaller or historic Bed & Breakfasts that may not have elevators or wheel-chair ramps. If you have concerns about access please feel free to call the Holmes County Chamber of Commerce.

What about a snow-storm? It is December after all!
In the event of inclement weather: If there is a level warning issued for the roads in Holmes County, Ohio we will post-pone the tour until the following week.  Updates will be posted here on the site as well as the Christmas Cookie Tour of Inns facebook page. Should the decision be made to post-pone the tour we will also call all of the tour guests personally to let them know. Please make sure to provide a good, working contact number at the time of ticket purchase.

Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets will be on sale as of October 1, 2012. Please visit our BUY TICKETS page to purchase yours! You can also call the Holmes County Chamber of Commerce. There are a limited number of tickets available for each day and they do sell fast! If you would like to join us on the 5th annual tour we suggest that you plan to get your tickets early!

I bought tickets but now I can't come, can I return them?
Because this event is geared to raise money for local charity all of the tickets for the Christmas Cookie Tour of Inn are non-refundable. In the spirit of Christmas giving if guests find themselves in a position where they are unable to go on the tour we encourage them to pass the tickets onto friends or family that would enjoy attending.

  1. I hope the Cookie Tour will also be held this Christmas in 2013. I will surely book my holiday all inclusive for that one.

  2. Yeah, I agree with you Ana and I hope it's near our area too. I'm sure my "little cookie monster" would enjoy this one in a lifetime experience. It would be a fun activity for me and my son. I hope they will announce it early if ever there would be another one so I can book a room as soon as possible.

  3. Sounds like fun and definitely an enjoyable activity if you have kids. Though it seems we all missed this but hopefully there will be another one in the future. In the meantime, we'll just book a vacation house in Costa Rica because we found a great deal offer. -Cadence
